Alan III was raised in Shaker Hts., Ohio and graduated from Shaker Hts High School. Alan began his sales career in high school by running his own business selling seal coating for driveways. After high school, he attended Miami University of Ohio where he majored in Business Administration. During the summers, he worked for his father, Alan H Gillmore Jr, at Gillmore Building Systems, in a variety of positions. After graduating from Miami in 1968, he entered a program called Teacher Corps, where he worked in the City of Cleveland, teaching junior high school English. He also worked in the Cleveland Board of Education school camping program where 5th and 6th graders were taught academic subjects at Hiram House Camp in Orange Village. Alan earned a Masters Degree in Education from The University of Akron during this time.
In 1971, Alan Jr purchased the franchise for the Westinghouse Home Security System and started Gillmore Security Systems, Inc. Alan III started as a part-time sales person with Gillmore Security in the summer of 1972 and has been with the company ever since. In 1988, Alan III purchased Gillmore Security Systems from his father, Alan Jr.
During his free time, he spends time with his wife Maureen and his family. He also spends time performing at the Hermit Club in the jazz big band as a drummer.
Alan Gillmore IV graduated from Miami University in 2000 with a B.S. in business and a minor in international business. After graduating, Alan went on to join McDonald Investments LLC as an analyst focused on marketing investment banking products to the financial sponsor community. In 2002 Alan left McDonald to join Gillmore Security selling high quality residential and commercial security solutions. After four years of developing direct sales experience, Alan returned for his MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management with concentrations in strategy and finance. Alan has served in many capacities while at Gillmore including residential and commercial sales, Vice President of Sales and currently as the Chief Operating Officer and partner of the company. Alan has appeared on television, radio and has been quoted in several publications including Crain’s Cleveland Business, Inside Business Magazine and Smart Business for his extensive knowledge of the security industry. Alan is state fire licensed and has been actively involved in the community for the past 10 years including board level involvement with the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club, Acroment Technologies and local participation in many charitable and fundraising endeavors.
